Opinions and experiences shared by MoonCup users!

"I am writing to thank you for your wonderfully friendly attitude and smiles!

I have been using my Mooncup for five days now and from the first have been utterly delighted. It just makes so much sense! And, after what I have recently been through with TSS, a real relief to find a product that is not only safe for me but also good for our planet....a dream come true!

"Am still totally happy with my Mooncup...more than happy...it has changed my life! No more yukky tampons and a real sense of security each month.

"How can I describe the MoonCup adequately? An excellent invention! Why? Because It is practical, discreet, extremely comfortable, hygienic and ultimately a great moneysaver; it is also environmentally friendly - what more could anyone ask for? I would have no hesitation in recommending it to any woman who wants to take both the hassle and cost out of her periods while still enjoying a full and active lifestyle."

"Hi, here is what I have to share about MoonCup!

My periods can be quite heavy. I used to use Super plus tampons although I couldn’t always rely on them to absorb and retain all that my body released. This proved to be inconvenient as I teach yoga and the average class is about two hours long.

How and why did I find out about MoonCup? After receiving an e-mail forwarded by a friend alerting women to the risks associated with using tampons, I decided to check out the claims for myself. I had considered that the e-mail could have been a marketing scam from the producers of non-bleached tampons, and other alternative products mentioned in the e-mail.

As a result of my search, I discovered the sorts of things about tampons that made me wish I had checked it out years ago. I found out about The MoonCup. The health related aspects interested me first, I also considered the savings, and the benefit to the environment - sounded good...

So, I decided to buy and try a MoonCup.

The MoonCup only costs €27,50 (£18.50, $36.50), and I was sure I would get the hang of it - I reckoned that if I can relate to Uddiyana Bandha and Nauli, yoga techniques, then I could get the MoonCup securely in place!

Well… success! There were only one or two occasions during the first couple of months of use when I didn’t insert the MoonCup either far enough up, or at the right angle, or perhaps I hadn’t taken quite enough time to feel if the cup had opened back to it’s original shape inside me once it had slid in to place. The result was that occasionally I would get a slight leak but nothing worse than I had experienced during years of tampon use! I put it down to experience and carried on.

I discovered that really relaxing all the pelvic muscles, inner and outer as you insert, position or remove the MoonCup speeds the procedure up! Just as quick and fuss free as using tampons once you get used to it. I find squatting is the most natural position to use to insert and remove the MoonCup.

Basically, when you are inserting and removing the MoonCup, don’t panic! Just because there is no string doesn’t mean that you wont be able to get it out!

Relax, breathe… being a yoga teacher helped me with that bit. I teach the relaxing process to people regularly. Take some yoga lessons or something similar if you find it relaxing - your health will benefit even if you never buy a MoonCup!

No doubt you will find your own preferred position and technique for insertion and removal. It is just a learning curve - any one can use a MoonCup if they want to. Wanting to get on with it is important thing.

I recommend that you do try converting your regular monthly habit into a fun learning curve... buy a MoonCup - the pros far out weigh the cons. I am happy that I found out about it.

I wanted to get on with it… and haven’t used a tampon since! I have boxes of tampons that I never intend to use. I don’t feel good about passing them onto a friend, I would rather recommend that they use a MoonCup, too!"
